Celebrating Lent!

This Easter we are celebrating Lent. "Lent is traditionally a period of fasting and repentance in preparation for Easter." Lent is typically more a tradition for the Roman Catholics and other liturgical churches, however, we want to place more emphasis on Christs death and resurrection this year and will be spending the next month preparing our hearts and minds for this celebration. We printed out a Lent activity schedule from Miiko Gibson. Here are some of the activities that we have done. Egg/spoon race, egg throw. Eggs have become a symbol of Easter representing spring and new life in Christ. We also washed each other's feet, as Christ did for the disciples. First Egg

Our hen decided to honor the fact that Easter is right around the corner. She laid her first egg today. This is so exciting for us new farmer people. If you have never had a fresh egg, you are missing out.

Our Newest Family Members have arrived

Our family is growing by leaps and bounds. First, we adopted two miniature pot-bellied pigs.(Mac and Cinderella) Then our four teenage chickens arrived. However, this week, perhaps is the most exciting. Our fifteen baby chicks arrived at the post office from Minnesota. They are so cute and are residing in a Graco crib in our house.(for the time being) They were only three days old when they came to live with us. Providence plays her violin for them. Next on the list is a goat.

Southern California

Only in Southern California can you go to the beach one day and the snow the next.

Yes, I know it's been months but hey I'll try and start again at blogging. Valentines Day was great. We made heart blueberry coffee cake and muffins, ate heart pizza, went for a bike ride, danced on the patio and enjoyed each other. Jason gave me goat food for my gift. I know this sounds so unromantic but I really wanted a goat for Valentines Day. The goat is coming soon so I'll post a picture when she arrives.

Finally Settled!

We have had a crazy full summer. We decided not to do the remodel to our new home, therefore the move in date moved up significantly. After much work: painting interior and exterior, new flooring, countertops ect, we moved in. I will post pictures slowly but here is a picture of the front of our house. I love our red front door. Eventually we will plant grass and flowers but we are very happy to live in the country.
